HOTY

Hosta of the Year (HOTY) With the ever-increasing number of new hosta cultivars introduced each year, it has become more challenging for nurserymen and gardeners to select the right varieties for their sales areas and gardens. To provide clear guidance, the American Hosta Growers Association (AHGA) established the Hosta of the Year (HOTY) program in 1996.

The HOTY is independently selected by a vote of AHGA members. Each winning variety must meet strict criteria: 1. excellent garden performance in all regions of the United States 2. wide availability and sufficient production supply 3. a reasonable retail price of round $15.00 in the year of selection.

As a result, each Hosta of the Year represents a proven combination of reliability, ornamental value, and strong garden performance—trusted by both professionals and consumers. Heemskerk Vasteplanten offers nearly all HOTY winners.
